Last year I was commissioned by the Audubon Society to create two technology still lifes for their magazine. The photographs accompanied an article on the obsolete technology (answering machines, landline phones) that used to be required for rare bird alerts. It was published in the Winter 2021 Audubon magazine. My still life includes items familiar to bird watchers: binoculars, birder’s journal, flashlight, and compass. Audubon and it’s staff contributed some of the props: binoculars, flashlight, bird clock, and the Bird Photo Booth disguised as a vintage twin lens camera. The birder’s journal and compass were borrowed from my birdwatcher friend, Mary.
